About Us: Overview
Well known for excellence, the Peg Taylor Center has helped to pioneer adult day health care services in California over the past 21 years. Since 1986, the Peg Taylor Center has provided more than 1.1 million hours of care and support to families in need in Butte, Glenn and Tehama counties.
Our Mission and Services
Our mission is to help both older and younger adults with health problems to improve their quality of life by staying active and involved with life. Our participants have ranged in age from 24 to 104. Each individual client has a personalized care plan, including nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies, social work services, dietary counseling and other specialized care, according to their needs. Enjoyable activities take place all through the day, creating friendship and community. Transportation to our program is a key component of our care.
Who We Serve
Common health problems for participants at the Peg Taylor Center can include strokes, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. Regardless of their health issues, participants in adult day health care get the comprehensive support they need to help them regain strength and enjoyment of life. After a crisis such as a stroke, we work with clients and their families over extended periods of time to encourage continued progress, helping them to remain hopeful.
Importance of Our Program
If they didn’t attend the Peg Taylor Center, most of our clients would be isolated and alone at home. Spending the day in a safe, stimulating environment helps them to avoid problems such as depression and increased disability from lack of activity, which often lead to unnecessary nursing home placement. Instead they can get out of the house and thrive in a lively, happy, home away from home.
